Dear VHLers

Just a reminder this weeks games are Saturday and at RIDLEY COLLEGE ST CATHERINES but I wanted to send out Bash and Ticket info first.

 

If you remember, last year at Draw (Bash) time many people were asking me, for this years, to separate the 50/50 from the other prizes we have at the bash so this year I made separate tickets for the 50/50. One reason is we could sell the 50/50 throughout the year to make a bigger prize.

As you can see the ticks are only $10. I would ask who can help out (besides buying a couple ticks) to take a book of 10tix - Im sure at $10 they wont be a problem to sell to friends etc.

 

Speaking of the Bash, since Big Dave sold his The Big House, we need volunteers for a Venue for Bash2013. Luckily the VHLers are more polite off ice than on so if you have been to one of the Bashs you know no worry about destroying the place. Anyone????? AnyPlace???

 

FOR The Bash Draw, as per last year, we need donations for the BASH prizes for this year so if you have something you think may be good please let me know.

 

The Date of the Bash this year (depending on the championship schedule) will be 2nd or 3rd FRIDAY in JUNE!!

Get Ready for the 2013 VHL SEASON!

Please read below for info/requests for this upcoming season:

1. If you havent already, please take the Survey to help me out with some items for this upcoming season.

2. This year, as mentioned earlier, the first week of games will be played over two weeks so you will have one game either on Friday Feb 15(week 1a)  or Friday Feb 22.(week 1b).
Both those games will be at 10:00pm Friday.

3. Partial reason for Item#2 is it will make it easier for me to collect the $ for registration.
IF YOU CANNOT PAY IN FULL PLEASE EMAIL ME!  Some of you already discussed so you dont have to email me but anyone else please let me know so I dont have to get into personal stuff infront of everyone. ALSO, if you say you will pay the remainder in week X please do and dont make me come to you week after week. A guy who did this to me last year is no longer playing because of this. I am not doing this as a business I am doing this to have fun with my family and friends and friends of family and family of friends! PLEASE NO CHECKS! Just go to your bank and cash the check you plan to give me - dont make me do it.

4a. I will go into more detail later but please remember this is a LEAGUE OF FRIENDS  where everyone knows each other or should eventually get to know/play together. If you cant play as if it is was a normal pickup game THIS INCLUDES CHOPPING PEOPLES STICKS -  with your friends please do us a favor and don't play.
4b) DO NOT COME TO THE GAMES HAMMERED!!!  Have respect for other people etc no one wants a guy stumbling with his stick swinging and falling all over the place. I feel responsible in a way for people who I brought to this league. Anyone who comes to games like this will not be let on ice. If it happens twice you do not belong with us.

5. Of course included in the price is all the shenanigans and hijinks like Pizza for the playoffs, Provolone Trophy Commemorative VHL Tshirt at end of year, Bash etc etc etc

6. This year, instead of just at the Bash, will be starting and running the 50/50 draw throughout the year with a progressive jackpot as it grows with the running amount listed on this site. Winning ticket will be drawn at VHL BASH June 2013. More details about this later.

7. The Draft should be complete by beginning of next week with first part of Schedule.
Please note - there are many people who want to play with their buddies - sometimes these are a group of 3 or 4 but you all have to understand every year there are a few sets of 1 or 2 new guys that come on board that know just one person. We try hardest to put them (2 or 3) on same team together. After a year or two we expect they will know enough players to have no problem playing on other teams. Other than those situations we can usually, and for the most part do, accomodate 2 buddies together but when its more than that is too difficult with such a small roster - sometimes we have started the league with as little as 8 skaters on a team. In addition there are guys 2s and 3s who all drive in together from an hours drive. Im sure everyone realizes we should try to keep them together too. There are other situations but you get the idea and hopefully understand however, as I said, most times 2 buddies is not a problem going forward.
 Ok - enough on that - I hope I didnt confuse!

VHL SEASON V

2012 VHL CHAMPS, Championship week and BASH Video

THE 2012 VHL BASH VIDEO is UP and working FINALLY!!!
I'll take this opportunity again, in writing, to thank all the people who helped out this season just in case I forgot someone in the vid below.

• Thanks again to Big Dave for hosting this, his forth VHL Bash. He sold his beautiful house and we all wish him luck where ever he plans to lay his hat. We will have a new location for next years Bash.
• Big Thanks to Domenic Grandoni for all his help getting and preparing the food at the Bash especially the pizza and pasta. Also thanks for being our Provolone Trophy Sponsor every year with the Saputo Group
• Thanks to Philip for all the score keeping as well as Jr Champs and little Vitucci's for filling in when needed.
• Thanks to Wes, Pete and Dave Spinelli for handling the reffing duties in the playoffs.
• Thanks for Bash draw prize donations go to Sal for the 2 Italy Shirts, Steve for the Toronto FC shirt, Roy for the Kelseys gift certificate and Domenic for that big honking chunk of cheddar cheese.
• Thanks to everyone for helping to save the season when we had to move places, dates and times because of other people's (Double Dump Stooge) incompetence.
• Thanks for all the late sign ups in this VHL season who took over the spot of an injured VHL regular. We hope to find spots for you next year - we will keep you in mind.
• Lastly, thanks to everyone who came up to me to tell me "thanks for doing this" and convey to me how much they love the league.

As always, a VHL season is not truly complete utill the beer has been drank, the meatballs been eaten and the VHL BASH has been bashed!

RUNNER UP

VHL Prizes, VHL Bash.

Dear VHLers and Friends of the VHL,

For those who were around last year you’ll know that at the VHL Bash we have a 50/50 Draw as well as miscellaneous/unique VHL theme prizes to give away as part of that draw.

We do this to allow me to add to the float in the hopes to give me some breathing room to run the league in the next VHL season.

Last years VHL Bash and Draw were organized with no time to spare though I’m sure everyone who was there would agree it was a blast and the food was great. So, even though we are only 10 days from this year’s Bash, I would like to take this opportunity to ask if anyone out there, or anyone you may know, would be able to donate a prize to increase our prize chest for the 2012 VHL Bash Draw.

For Prizes, well, considering we will have shirts etc coming out of our ears that night, the best type of prizes would probably be miscellaneous gift certificates or Bottles of Rye or Vodka or something of that nature.  If you know of anything or would just like to donate something like a gift certificate for a prize on your own, it would be greatly appreciated.

I probably should have started this (Prizes for VHL Bash Draw) ball rolling months ago to ensure we could have had more prizes and sold more tickets before hand but unfortunately life happens and a lot of my time was taken so here we are in the Semi Final week at the same time working on getting the Bash organized

Running this baby (League of Friends) is not easy – especially when every year some curve gets thrown at us and it ends up costing more that I had budget for. From the first days that I envisioned building this league, back in winter of 2008, my first priority was to always make sure that money wouldn’t be an issue for my friends, family, friends of family or family of friends etc to play in. I wanted to make it the cheapest, most fun organized/unorganized hockey to play in. Hopefully doing these kinds of things (draws etc) will help us to keep it that way for a long time.
