2012 VHL CHAMPS, Championship week and BASH Video

THE 2012 VHL BASH VIDEO is UP and working FINALLY!!!
I'll take this opportunity again, in writing, to thank all the people who helped out this season just in case I forgot someone in the vid below.

• Thanks again to Big Dave for hosting this, his forth VHL Bash. He sold his beautiful house and we all wish him luck where ever he plans to lay his hat. We will have a new location for next years Bash.
• Big Thanks to Domenic Grandoni for all his help getting and preparing the food at the Bash especially the pizza and pasta. Also thanks for being our Provolone Trophy Sponsor every year with the Saputo Group
• Thanks to Philip for all the score keeping as well as Jr Champs and little Vitucci's for filling in when needed.

• Thanks to everyone for helping to save the season when we had to move places, dates and times because of other people's (Double Dump Stooge) incompetence.
• Thanks for all the late sign ups in this VHL season who took over the spot of an injured VHL regular. We hope to find spots for you next year - we will keep you in mind.
• Lastly, thanks to everyone who came up to me to tell me "thanks for doing this" and convey to me how much they love the league.

As always, a VHL season is not truly complete utill the beer has been drank, the meatballs been eaten and the VHL BASH has been bashed!

RUNNER UP

VHL Prizes, VHL Bash.

Dear VHLers and Friends of the VHL,

For those who were around last year you’ll know that at the VHL Bash we have a 50/50 Draw as well as miscellaneous/unique VHL theme prizes to give away as part of that draw.

We do this to allow me to add to the float in the hopes to give me some breathing room to run the league in the next VHL season.

Last years VHL Bash and Draw were organized with no time to spare though I’m sure everyone who was there would agree it was a blast and the food was great. So, even though we are only 10 days from this year’s Bash, I would like to take this opportunity to ask if anyone out there, or anyone you may know, would be able to donate a prize to increase our prize chest for the 2012 VHL Bash Draw.

For Prizes, well, considering we will have shirts etc coming out of our ears that night, the best type of prizes would probably be miscellaneous gift certificates or Bottles of Rye or Vodka or something of that nature.  If you know of anything or would just like to donate something like a gift certificate for a prize on your own, it would be greatly appreciated.

I probably should have started this (Prizes for VHL Bash Draw) ball rolling months ago to ensure we could have had more prizes and sold more tickets before hand but unfortunately life happens and a lot of my time was taken so here we are in the Semi Final week at the same time working on getting the Bash organized

Running this baby (League of Friends) is not easy – especially when every year some curve gets thrown at us and it ends up costing more that I had budget for. From the first days that I envisioned building this league, back in winter of 2008, my first priority was to always make sure that money wouldn’t be an issue for my friends, family, friends of family or family of friends etc to play in. I wanted to make it the cheapest, most fun organized/unorganized hockey to play in. Hopefully doing these kinds of things (draws etc) will help us to keep it that way for a long time.

2012 VHL PLAYOFF INFO

2012 VHL PLAYOFF FORMAT


NOTE:
The Times for the Semis have been moved up to 8:30pm and 9:30pm

By now you should know the dates and times for YOUR playoff games.

If not, I will repeat them here below:

Ok, so now that you know the date and time of your semi final game lets discuss how the playoff games will differ than our usually more laid back regular season games.

1. Referee: Yes, there will be a volunteer referee at both semi-final games.  Big Dub Wes will be doing the 9:45 game and Bob will be doing the 10:15 game. These two friends of ours are not there to stop any stupid stuff, that is up to all of us so lets make sure nothing stupid starts. What these guys have volunteered to do is dropping the puck at center ice at beginning of game/period and after goals as well as have the final say in any disputed off sides and or goals.  Their word is the final word. Don’t bother arguing.

2. Clock Management:  As you should be aware by now at the Quad Pads, we get curfewd after our allotted ice time of approx 50 minutes flood included - they don't care if its a playoff game or not. Most of the leagues do some kind of round robin total goals or wins BS! Knowing the curfew issue, we would be in a bit of a quagmire should the games end in tie at end of regular time, so what VHL management have decided to do is to cut one minute from each period as well as cut the pre game warm up by one minute from two minutes to one so guys, be aware, get warmed up before going on the ice as best you can and remember only one minute for pre game warm up.  The allotted 3 minutes we gain from this we will use, in case of a tie, for Execution Style Shoot Out – description below.

3. Execution Style Shoot Out: If after regulation time the game has ended in a tie, both teams will each get one puck at the opposing teams blue line. 1 shooter for each team takes the puck from there and shall attempt to score on the goalkeeper simultaneously. If Team A scores on their first shot and Team B does not, Team A will win. If neitherTeam A or Team B score on their first shots, or they both score, we shall go to a 2^nd round. This will continue until a winner is determined. Execution Style Shoot Out could end in one round or it could end in 10. The 3 minutes should be enough to determine a winner.

2012 VHL ROSTERS AND SCHEDULE IS UP!!!!!

FINALLY,
I have the Roster complete and the first 4 games of the 2012 Regular Season posted.
The remaining 10 games will be posted before the end of the 4 game schedule. As per my latest notice. We hope to have almost all these games on Fridays as usual but if past experience is any indication we may have to change still a couple of dates.

I would ask everyone to bring their Restigration $ tothe first games unless you have already made different arrangements with me. Whomever will not be there the first week please let me know.

VHL 2012 League INFO

OK VHLers,

We are getting near to the start date for VHL 2012.

We will continue to hold  our games on Friday nights but the season will start with a bit of a twist. A few games at the beginning of the season will have to be played on Sat and Thursday because the jerk who runs the rink screwed up the first few weeks of VHL's regular Friday schedule. So we had to make some compromises for the beginning of the schedule. We hope to get back to our regular Friday nights times not far after these 4 games.
I will post the full remaining schedule of Friday games at a later date.

So, this is what the first few weeks dates and times will look like:.
NOTE: This is only until the the first 4th games after which we should be moving back to Fridays as per normal. 

As well as screwing our schedule he has also cranked the price up again -anyone who has been dealing with the Double Dumps lately will know what I'm talking about. So, for this season the price will be going up by one of these :

Therefore (since last year was $160)  This year its $180. 

As usual Goalies will get the goalie rates which I will inform you of before the season starts.

Anyone who has a problem with the cost or will have a problem paying the full amount at the beginning please email me and I will keep it confidential.

We will have the same amount of games (14 total) includes playoff pizza + VHLbash+VHL Tshirt + shenanigans and hijinks etc.

Though most people who played till the end of the year said they would be back PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU or Your Buddy ARE NOT COMING BACK!!!!!!  So, I dont get into the same situation I had last year trying to find the right fit for a team after the teams had been set.

Constructions of the teams will take place about one week before the first game so I will keep you all posted.
