Another VHL season has come to a close. Thanks to everyone, the players, the scorekeepers, the fans, the fan, Big Dave for hosting the 3rd Annual VHL bash, Dom Grandoni for managing the catering.
I will be posting/requesting confirmation in the new year for the 4th VHL season registration etc.
As you all know, the Winners of the VHL League of Friends Trophy for 2011 was team Earth/Yellow.

Team Saturn (Blue) will be presented the Saputo Provolone Trophy for finishing first over all for this season. This is a new trophy (like the Presidents Trophy in the NHL) sponsored by Dominic Grandoni of Saputo. The winning team gets a Provolone to share between each other - word is there may be some additional items to nibble. The Rule of the Saputo Provolone trophy is the winners have to share it with whomever is daring enough to come into the winners room after the game. I know I will be there :)
Referee
This Fridays game will be the first game we will be using a ref to break in before the playoffs.
The Refs name is Dave and he has been a ref for many many years. He has reffed me way back in the day so I know he is up to the job. Basically, he will be going by the same (few) rules that we play with week in and week out. Faceoffs only after goals, If the puck goes out of play he will tell which team gets possession. He will be calling any obvious off side. If you go offside the other team gets the puck. He will be the deciding word on goals and hopefully we may have a goal judge on either end to help him out.
Dave has been instructed by me that if sees any stupid stuff, hacking etc he can call that player out and eject him as we run close to ZERO tolerance in the VHL. Any hooking or tripping, he will ensure the team victimized does not lose possession of the puck.
If this causes a loss of scoring opportunity THE REF WILL CALL A PENALTY SHOT!!!. So there wont be anyone in the game going to the penalty box. Anyone gets out of line they will just be asked to leave the game.
The Winning Team of each game is to provide the ref with a beer if he comes to your change room.
2011 VHL Bash
Big Dave has been gracious enough to host the 3rd annual VHL Bash.
This will be held on Fri June 10. Catered by VHL Catering supervised by Dominic Grandoni. This is a BYOB (Bring your own Booze) Otherwise it is a Free event for all members of the VHL, unfortunately no wives or girlfriends are invited because I did not budget for that many people and most guys want to keep it just the boys. There may be a few females there but these will be either friends/family of Big Dave or VHL Staff special assistant to the Commish.

Hello Everyone,
This is our new home for all VHL info. I will be posting the Schedule, Team Rosters and weekly scores here.
The Season will be starting Friday Feb 18.
Game times will remain 9:15 10:15. We will select the teams on Feb 12 and they will be posted in the SCHEDULE & TEAMS section (tabs at top).
The Season consists of 14 games including playoffs and last place loser round - which my team has won lost 2 years in a row!

As mentioned earlier, the price will only be going up by $10 from last year but this is because huge increase in ice time from last year. . So the cost is $160 except for Goalies.
Goalies as usual get special Rates for having to stop all the rubber. I will contact goalies personally on this.

As was last year, included will be Pizza for the playoffs, Commemorative 2011 VHL tshirt, and of course, the always amusing VHL Bash!
I will inform you and keep this blog updated once we finalize the roster and schedule. I will also post the League rules for the rookies.
